SHARP WOMEN SHORTLISTED FOR CHANNEL AWARDS

London, 17-08-2018
Sharp Business Systems UK (SBSUK) is thrilled to announce that seven of its leading female employees have been shortlisted at CRN’s inaugural Women in Channel Awards 2018.

The glitzy awards ceremony, which takes place on the evening of Thursday 18th October at the Hilton London Bankside hotel, will see hundreds of men and women from the technology sector come together to celebrate women in the industry and their achievements.

Women making the shortlist from Sharp include: Corina Schiopu for Rising Star, Holly Chambers and Katherine Harris for Sales Employee of the Year, Kristie Scott-Woodham and Angela Townsend for Manager of the Year, and Alice Lee for Technical Employee of the Year.

Adrienne Topping, SBSUK’s Group Brand & Marketing Communications Manager made the shortlist for Marketing Employee of the Year for her previous role at Midshire, she says: “It is such an honour to have made it this far and to be recognised with the other fantastic women from Sharp.

“This is an exciting new chapter for myself and my team. Being directly involved with one of the top manufacturers in our industry has opened up a world of opportunities and I’m truly excited to develop myself and my role further.”

With other finalists from organisations like VMware, UKFast, Vodafone, HP Inc., and Cisco, the tone has been set for an exceptional evening with some of the world’s top tech companies.

Katie Burridge, Senior Marketing Manager at Incisive Media comments: “The issue of diversity in the workplace is more relevant now than ever before, and it’s a proven fact that organisations with a more diverse workforce make better decisions.

“As the voice of the UK IT channel, Women in Channel and CRN are committed to encouraging debate and research into the diversity deficit. Wherever the fault lies, there is no shortage of talented female staff at vendors, distributors and resellers capable of inspiring the next generation. We feel that shouting about the accomplishments of women in the channel - not because they are women, but because their accomplishments are worth shouting about – can play an important role in tackling the issue.”

Sarah Coates, Head of HR at SBSUK says: “Moving further into the 21st Century it is imperative for organisations to embrace diversity, otherwise they are at risk of getting left behind. At Sharp, we are actively looking at our recruitment methods to see how we can encourage women in our company, and in the wider technology sector.”

Businesses will travel from across the country to attend the ceremony and reiterate its message, with sponsors including: TechData, ComputaCenter, Cyber Business Growth, Exclusive Networks, and FXMA.
