SHARP MAKES STRATEGIC MOVE TO SWANLEY
Sharp Business Systems (UK) PLC (SBSUK) held a grand unveiling event on Thursday 11th October, attended by over 50 SBSUK employees, local customers, and business partners.
Hosted by Sharp directors and the senior team, SBSUK welcomed ex-Secretary of State for Defence, MP Sir Michael Fallon, who together with Jun Ashida, President of Sharp Electronics Europe unveiled a plaque to commemorate the special day.
With eyes to the future, the move was part of a strategic relocation from its Basildon site to the new premises which are ideally situated south of London in Swanley, Kent.
Centrally located, the new site is amongst several strong southern England transport links, including: the M25, Dartford Crossing, Swanley railway station
with direct trains to London Victoria, and the Channel Tunnel to France. The move means the company is much better placed to expand its service to customers in London and the South East of England.
Trevor Northfield, Operations Director at SBSUK comments: “This is a very exciting move for Sharp. We’ve never shied away from a worthwhile opportunity, and although the move requires the short-term investment, long-term it will reap significant savings for the company, as well as better support our busiest service operation.
“The new office has not only put us in a better location to service our increasing MIF, but will accommodate future company growth, allowing for upwards of 50 additional field engineers and over 40 office-based staff.
“Furthermore, the move has helped us to increase our in-house pre-delivery machine inspections from 25% to 80%, which will save the business unprecedented amounts in outsourcing, and drastically reduce our targeted response time of 4-hours for call outs!”
The 16,500 square foot site includes a significant warehouse space, workshop, offices, call centre and a modest showroom for product demonstrations.
Trevor concludes: “Aside from this being a smart business move by SBSUK, there are other benefits of opening in Swanley. The extra square footage and savings being made has allowed us to invest in a cardboard baling machine and a polystyrene compactor, which massively up scales our recycling capabilities and is already generating its own profit!”
SBSUK thanks its employees for their involvement in the move and welcomes local customers and business partners for a future tour.
