About Clean Air Day 2022
This year’s theme:
The theme for 2022 is “air pollution dirties every organ in your body.” And the resources available look at the science to highlight how air pollution moves from your lungs, into your blood and can cause various conditions such as lung disease, heart disease and dementia. The resources also address ways in which we can help reduce air pollution and how together we can all do something to cut pollution for the benefit our health and planet.
How does air pollution affect children?
Air pollution can affect children’s physical health and their ability to learn. As their immune systems, lungs and brains are still developing, children are particularly at risk from air pollution. Yet millions of children are still exposed to dangerously high levels of air pollution with over a quarter of schools in areas above WHO air pollution limits.
Did you know?
Air pollution causes heart and lung disease and results in over 36,000 people in the UK dying each year.
