WEEE REGULATIONS No 2006, SI No. 3289
The EU Directive on Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (The WEEE Directive) No. 2002/96/EC was transposed into UK regulations statutory instrument number 3289 in December 2006. The WEEE producer compliance obligation starts on 1st July 2007.
The regulations put responsibility on the producer to finance the collection and treatment of waste arising from electrical electronic equipment it placed on the market.
Sharp’s WEEE Registration number is: WEE/FF057TS.
The regulations require that a distributor of electronic equipment is obligated to offer free of charge in store take-back, when you purchase a replacement on like-for-like basis, or join a Distributor Take-Back Scheme (DTS).
Sharp’s sales via internet is interpreted as a “distributor” and we have therefore an obligation under the above requirement.
Sharp has joined the distributor take-back scheme that will manage the collection on our behalf. If you purchased an electrical or electronics equipment directly from us via the internet, the equipment has now reached the end of its useful life and you have bought a replacement from us, please go to the following website to find out how to dispose of the waste http://www.recycle-more.co.uk/
If you experience any difficulties, please contact Valpak at: info@valpak.co.uk.
For all other waste from electrical and electronic equipment, please refer to your local authority for advice.
