The functionality of this device is quite good although the display is difficult to read under some circumstances and the backlight is inadequate. The unit is let down by a poor operator’s manual which suffers from a lack of detail. For instance, it is not clear as to how an alarm is set in the "anniversary" mode or whether such an event (e.g. a birthday) will be flagged in successive years. The alarm tone is too quiet for busy environments. A considerable advantage is in the use of non-volatile memory (no loss of data?) whilst the power is provided by an alkaline AAA cell rather than expensive button cells. The organiser is supplied with a Spanish-English translator but no details are given on alternative languages or other software. The construction is good although the case cover appears very flimsy particularly since no wallet or other cover was provided. Data entry directly to the organiser is somewhat fiddly due to the screen size and the screen keybo ard has an annoying habit of reverting to lower case every time a different function is selected. Potentially, data entry to the organiser via a PC is much easier. The “desktop utilities” function (import, export, download etc) works well with Windows 2000 & XP but a great improvement would be to include alternative software for generating organiser data on the PC (MS Excel works quite well if saved as a CSV file!).
